Eco Solutions China System Development Center(hereafter referred to as ESCSDC) is the base for systematic product development established by Panasonic in China for the Chinese market. Since its foundation, it has been dedicated to the design and development of equipment network and energy management systems suitable for the Chinese market. It aims for a comprehensive solution that is safe, satisfied, energy efficient, and tailored to the local market.

The ESCSDC, on April 1st , 2007,was initiated as the system technology center within the Panasonic Co.,Ltd.(China). A year and half after its establishment, it completed two successive national science research projects – iopeNet open building mechanical facility network and development of energy efficient building mechanical facility, both of which were highly acclaimed by the reviewing committee. The ESCSDC, in the mean time, was entrusted with the development and technical support of IPv6 based digital lighting control system in the Beijing Olympic Green. For the first time worldwide, it succeeded in applying IPv6 network in the management of large scale lighting equipment with an estimated 22.95% decrease in energy consumption.

As the Panasonic became an international brand, the ESCSDC officially joined the Panasonic Research and Development Center China Co., Ltd. – the research and development base of the Panasonic group – in October, 2008. Based on its previous research and development and aided with the Panasonic Group’s strength, it proactively expanded its sophisticated solutions for facility network and energy system into residence areas, thus formulating the following two key fields of research:

(1) Non-residence: iopeNet open comprehensive facility network

This is a new concept of facility network that connects different structures through wide area network. Deployed in large scale constructions such as office buildings, parks and other particular areas, it saves energy by controlling its subsystems such as lighting and air conditioning.

(2) Residence:Home Energy Management System,HEMS

Connecting the home appliances, and furthermore the energy generators and storages with efficient network, the HEMS optimizes the overall home energy consumption within the most reasonable range, household emission of CO₂ is thus reduced.

Through the aforementioned research and development in both residence and non-residence areas, ESCSDC will expand facility network and energy management in China, tap into its rich technology resources and excellent talents in order to contribute to the energy saving in China.
